Marylebone Station
Laser Cleaning
To celebrate 125 years of Marylebone Station, VPMC removed decades of ingrained dirt from its limestone facade with the power of lasers.
Laser cleaning technology is more effective, safer and superior to traditional methods of cleaning. We use a focused laser beam to rapidly vaporise contaminants on a material’s surface. Compared with other traditional physical or chemical cleaning methods, laser cleaning is non-contact with no consumables or pollution, extremely high precision and small residual damage.

Our machines deliver short, powerful bursts of laser power in an extremely precise and consistent beam path. The technology effectively cleans sub-micron particles which have been adsorbed by the surface of materials that are difficult to clean by other methods. The laser is able to precisely focus on this fine surface layer of contaminants, preventing any damage to the surface beneath.
"Today we witnessed amazing results on the limestone masonry of Marylebone Station being cleaned with the sustainable and innovative laser cleaning equipment. We celebrate 125 Years of Marylebone Station this week and this cleaning method has removed decades of ingrained dirt. Thanks to VPMC for the innovation."
