JD Wetherspoons
Gatwick Airport

Located just above the main concourse, The Beehive provides a retreat for the thousands of passengers who pass through Gatwick Airport every day. Named after the original terminal building, which was opened in 1936, The Beehive forms another link in the popular Wetherspoon chain.

With hundreds of customers every day, The Beehive is now the hub of activity in one of London’s major airports. This project brought benefits to not just the passengers but also the local community by creating 30 additional jobs, all housed in the upper level of the South Terminal.

Working as a contractor for Sanderson, VPMC completed the internal fit-out complete with a bespoke ceiling imported from Germany. Working within Gatwick Airport’s regulations for airflow, this Luxalon ceiling brought the perfect balance between function and form; thereby adding the finishing touch to the pub's contemporary theme.

“As project manager working on the Gatwick Beehive, I found VPMC to be an excellent contractor. They were proactive and helpful throughout the whole process, with all work completed to a very high standard. The support provided by the in-house team allowed VPMC to complete the project in line with programme and budgetary constraints.”
